Audemars Piguet Philosophique Vintage NOS in 18K Yellow & White Gold

Here is a very rare Audemars Piguet one hand watch. When a watch brand does a re-issue of a model, you know it is something special. They did so with the Millenary Philosophique in 2019, which was a tribute to the original model from 1982 presented here. The idea behind this watch is that we should not take time by the minute, but rather a bit more relaxed. We have seen several other watches adopt this principle, however this was one of the first (if not the first) to introduce this philosophy. It was released in two sizes, for women and for men. This is the men’s size with a 31 mm diameter. The height including the lugs and gold ring at the top is 42 mm. The ‘sandwich’ case is crafted from 18K yellow gold on the top and bottom with a center piece in 18K white gold. The watch is powered by AP’s caliber 2003/1 ultra thin hand wound movement. This example is in unworn (NOS) condition. It does have slight signs of wear on the case from storage and handling over 40 years. However as we can see from the original strap it was unworn and still has the original AP tag on it, showing its retail price of 6950 CHF back in the 80’s. A huge sum of money if converted to today’s standards. This is a watch for the AP aficionado or watch collector who wants something special and unusual.
